Your 30 Day Real Estate Challenge

Ever since Morgan Spurlock released his controversial film in 2004, Super Size Me, where he ate McDonalds everyday for 30 days, the idea of completing some sort of 30 day challenges have become increasingly popular. Now, there are hundreds to choose from – ranging from fitness, to healthier eating, to thinking more positively, or even ditching all social media. Challenges are set at 30 days, because it’s just long enough to create a lasting habit, yet is still accessible enough to not scare away newcomers.

But rather than completing a 30 day challenge in an area of your personal life, why not also do one in your real estate business? Challenges are meant to be hard, uncomfortable and push you, but they are absolutely effective.

Not sure what to do? Here are a few 30-day challenge ideas for your business:

  1. Door knock everyday for 30 days.
Pick a geographic farming area that you would like to focus on and set out to visit at least 5 houses each day. Plan to deliver a one-click CMA report via email using Cloud CMA to give each lead a snapshot of the market in their neighborhood.
  2. Cold call at least 5 people everyday for 30 days.
While cold calling probably isn’t your favorite thing in the world, it truly can be effective. So for the next 30 days cold call 5 people and send them a branded Cloud CMA report via email, so they can see how their local market is performing.
  3. Try out Facebook advertising for 30 days.
If you haven’t tried any paid advertising on Facebook before, this is a great challenge! Create a targeted landing page with Cloud Attract and then create a Facebook ad directing people to it. Using Facebook’s audience tools you can target people in a specific location who are considered “likely to move.”
  4. Reach out to one old client everyday for 30 days.
If you’ve been in real estate for a few years, then this challenge is perfect for you! Make  a list of 30 past clients and reach out to one everyday to check-in. Offer to set them up with Cloud Streams listing alerts so they get up-to-date notifications about what homes in their neighborhood are selling for.

Once you decide what you are going to challenge yourself with for 30 days, you need to set yourself up to be successful. During the 30 days make sure you:

Write down your challenge.
It seems simple, but physically writing down your challenge makes a difference. When you want to give up (and you will) it serves as a reminder to keep going. Because of this, there are even daily planner and goal setting notebooks so you can stay motivated!

Make a plan.
“Failing to plan is planning to fail.” Your chances of successfully completing your 30 day challenge decrease when you don’t have a plan. If you’re cold calling people, prepare a list of the people who you will contact. If you are going to try Facebook advertising, make sure you’ve done your homework.

Track your results.
When you are completing a 30 day challenge, it’s important to track your results so you know what effect it had on your life at the end. Doing so will help you decide if continuing the behavior past 30 days is worth it.

Now that you know what to do and how to do it, there is nothing left but to get started! If you’re doing one of the challenges above, sign up for the Cloud Agent Suite and get it free for the first 30 days.
